Gather Round | Highlights from January’s Supper Club with Founders Brewing Co.

Hello, Friends! We are in February already, can you believe it??!! It usually seems that January drags by with the winter days but not this year. I won’t be mad if we really do have an early spring but the days sure could slow down a bit!

We had our first Supper Club of the year just a couple of weeks ago and it was a great hit!! We teamed up with Founders Brewing Co. for a beer pairing dinner at The Hatch located in Broad Ripple. Sarah and I are members and it’s a great space for a variety of events…even Supper Club!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Eileen from Noteworthy Expressions. Having a background in advertising printing, we became fast friends with the same love for paper and ink. Eileen created the menus for the evening and I’m definitely happy to partner with her for menu designs and other event stationery!

Sarah loved creating this menu!  We’re always looking to make supper club intimate but casual, while doing comforting, modern takes on traditional cuisine. The direction she took with this beer paired menu was to make upscale bar food.

The hit of the night was the pairing of Blushing Monk, a Belgian style ale brewed with raspberries, along with the raspberry balsamic glazed chicken, forbidden black rice, and crispy shaved Brussels sprouts.  Another favorite was the final course: goat cheesecake with pistachio crust and cherry compote, paired with the bold Breakfast Stout!

We greeted our guests with an opening beer, the Azacca IPA – a winter seasonal, with it’s hint of citrus, was just the perfect beer to break in the evening. And, I love a good koozie! I definitely added 6 new Founders koozies to our home collection.

When Sarah and I launched Supper Club last year, our passion for this was to bring people together, whether its friends of friends or simply someone who is looking to connect with others in our community (while sharing an awesome meal at an inviting table, of course).

We had a wonderful couple join us who had recently moved here from Chicago and they both happen to work from their home which makes it challenging to get acquainted in a new town. Their daughter bought our Supper Club tickets for a Christmas present and hearing this story makes my heart so happy to have them join us! It’s exactly our mission behind Supper Club!

I love being able to create a space that feels special and intentional. It doesn’t have to be filled with lots of overflowing decor. Simple is good. It’s all in the attention to the details and a table setting should be a compliment to the food.

Greenery and floral decor included a simple mix of ornamental kale, bayleaf,  hypericum berries and jars filled with dried hops, candles and fairy lights. It was a pleasant contrast to the stark black paper runner which lined the communal table.

Just a little fun design tip…Founders bottle opener key chains also make great napkins ring!!

We love family-style. It’s more casual. More intimate. And it invites conversation. And there’s no better way to get that appetite really going than to feast your eyes on a table full of beautifully prepared food!!

By the way, all of the place settings and servingware seen at our dinner is included in our table top collection (and available for your next dinner party).

It’s pretty awesome when you get to partner up with good friends to host an event. A long time friend to Sarah and I, Ryan Bowers, is the Founders Representation for Central Indiana and spent the evening with us sharing the story of Founders and a bit of knowledge on each of the beers. The feature beer – Blushing Monk is delightfully easy to drink given it’s 9.2% ABV. It’s one you must try while still available!!

I am absolutely loving all of the photos from the evening but this one, in particular, with the beers so perfectly captured in a row by photographer, Nicole Wesley is a favorite! I’m a sucker for detail and she definitely has an eye for it.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with our first Supper Club this year and definitely looking forward to February’s which we are hosting on Valentine’s Day. Yep! While restaurants are filling reservations for two tops, we are setting one communal table and serving family-style this Valentine’s Day.

So, if you haven’t made any plans this Valentine’s Day, hop on over to the ticket link and grab yourself a seat and, if you like, feel free to invite that special someone or just a good friend. The more the merrier!
